Creating a custom ancestry or class allows for great flexibility in character creation, but it's important to note that this must be done in agreement with the GM (Game Master).
Characteristic Modifiers
The sum of the characteristic modifiers for a given ancestry or class must necessarily be less than or equal to +3.
If the sum of the characteristic points is less than +3, then the remaining points to reach this value are automatically converted into free characteristic points.
Furthermore, the value of a characteristic modifier from an ancestry or class must necessarily range between -2 and +3.
Innate Skill
When designing an innate skill for an ancestry, it is recommended to start with a usage limitation of once per day. This frequency serves as a basis for skills that have a significant impact, whether in combat, social interactions, or activities such as repairing or upgrading equipment.
Depending on the nature and power of the skill, the creator can adjust this frequency to allow for more flexible use:
- Twice per day: Suitable for useful skills that support moderately influential actions without unbalancing the game.
- Three times per day or more: Suitable for lighter skills whose effects are useful but limited, allowing players to use them more frequently throughout the day.
It is crucial that the creator carefully evaluates the power and implications of each skill, not only in the context of combat but also in other aspects of the game such as crafting, negotiation, or exploration. The goal is to ensure a balance between the utility of the skill and its impact on the game, while offering enriching and strategic opportunities to players.
Adaptability Points
Adaptability points are exclusively awarded to ancestries and reflect the flexibility and versatility of the ancestry. The distribution of adaptability points should be based on the creator's overall assessment of the ancestry:
- 0 to 3 adaptability points can be awarded.
Class and Outfit
If you decide to create your own class, you can:
- Either create your own outfits for that class (which can be lengthy and complicated to balance);
- Or use existing outfits available to other classes from the same universe and make them usable for your custom class.
